This workshop will present the feasibility study and environmental assessment findings for the proposed Baton Rouge to New Orleans Commuter Rail evaluation conducted for the Southern High Speed Rail Commission and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. It will be followed by information on the approved TIGER grant to fund Loyola Streetcar loop between the New Orleans CBD and the New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. A third presentation will discuss methods to refine Transit Oriented Development methodology and land use policy along both links of the corridor to successfully plan for passenger rail and land use at station stops.
